No matter what provider of email services you do use, the filters come in handy and make managing your inbox much more convenient. With Yahoo filters, you are able to get rid of a lot of headache regarding spam and annoying ad mails, and the simple guide below will show you how to take advantage of them. Luckily, Yahoo has done its best to make the filters to include as many options as it can be. And even though there are not so many actions as in Gmail when the letters are sorted out, it is sure that this feature is thought-out by Yahoo, too.
On this page of the settings, you are able to set Yahoo filters that will make your experience of using email more comfortable
Step 1. Indeed, you should enter the website of Yahoo in the first place. Go to http://yahoo.com/ in your browser.
Step 2. Sign in to the account with the help of your email address and password.
Step 3. Click on the settings button, which you can find in the upper-part section of the page in the form of a cogwheel.
Step 4. In the menu that has just opened up, you should select “Settings.”
Step 5. Once you have got to see the page of settings, click on the “Filters” section in its menu.
Step 6. So, this page is the place where you are able to set up the new filters (have a look at the first screenshot). This way, click on the “Add” button.
Now, you can specify how your letters should be sorted out with the help of this filter. First of all, you should name it (for example, “Yahoo filter #1”).
Then, there are the following conditions you should configure for this filter:
- From. The person who has sent you the letters.
- To. The person who you sent the letters to.
- Subject. The title of the letters.
- Body. The text of the letters.
Each of the conditions can be specified as:
- Does not contain;
- Begins with;
- Ends with.
For example, you can write in a respective field near “Body” the following text: “Dear Sir.” Also, you can choose “Begins with.” So, this means that all the letters that contain the phrase “Dear Sir” at the beginning of the message will be sorted out. Indeed, you can make a thorough filter with this abundance of options; this was just an example how to use it.
In this simple window, you are able to filter the letters and configure how they must be sorted out
The most important, however, is the last action: what should happen to the letters that have been sorted out? In the field “Then move the message to this folder” choose:
- New Folder (allows you to create a new folder where those messages will be moved).
Step 7. Click on the “Save” button. Now your new Yahoo filters work, and you can delete it in the same “Filters” section.
