How to Make a Comfortable, Nice-Looking Gmail Inbox

When you get to use the services of an email provider, you want the inbox of your email to look nice and cozy. Yet at the same time, you need it to be as much comfortable and easy-to-navigate as possible. It is not so easy to do, considering how many features you can find in Gmail. The article presented below, however, discloses the most important aspects and features you may find useful in adorning your Gmail inbox. Just follow the recommendations and take advantage of the features, offered by Gmail. Good luck!

Begin customizing your Gmail inbox by specifying the display density and then going to “Configure inbox”

Step 1. Open Google in your browser and log in to the system of Gmail (find the respective icon of Gmail in the Google Apps and give it a click).

Step 2. Once you have logged in to your Gmail account, you should first specify what display density you wish to have, i.e. how you want your inbox to look. For that, click on the button of settings (which looks like a cogwheel) and choose the display density in the upper part of the pop-up menu. In the provided screenshot, the display density is chosen as cozy. You can also choose “Comfortable (which makes the font and space between letters even larger) or “Compact” (this one minimizes the free space and you get to see a fairly bulk of letters in the inbox).

Step 3. Following it, click on the button of settings again and select “Configure inbox.” There, you will be able to add or remove the tabs you have in your inbox. By default, there are three tabs: “Primary”, “Social”, and “Promotions.” In the “Configure inbox” window, you can either remove some of the previously mentioned ones, or also add “Updates” and “Forums”. By the way, adding “Updates is really useful; your primary tab will not be stuffed with garbage. Also, there you can choose either to add starred messages solely to the primary tab or to the other tabs too.

Step 4. Click on the settings button again and select “Settings.” In the menu of settings, choose “Inbox.”

Here, you can change the following settings:

  • Categories. It is going about the same matter that you did in the “Configure inbox” section. If you have not chosen what tabs you want to be displayed there, you can do it in this section.
  • Importance markers. You can specify either to show some messages as important by a special marker or not. By default, this feature is turned on. In addition to that, you are able to choose whether Gmail is able to use your history for predicting what messages are important or not (by default, this feature is enabled too).
  • Filtered mail. Here, you can choose whether you want important messages, that could be filtered by the Gmail filters, to be included in your inbox, or you prefer such messages to be filtered as the rest of the messages (by default, important messages are filtered).

In addition to that, you can also set up a brighter, more nice-looking theme for your Gmail account. You can get to know about it more on this page.
